TOPIC: HE STAGGERED NOT (1)
GOLDEN VERSE: Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so he became the Father of many nations, Just as it had been said to him, so shall your offspring be” Romans 4:18
BIBLE TEXT: ROMANS 4: 16 -22
Oh!! Thank God our Father for giving us the Scriptures.
There are a lot of lessons and wisdom to glean from today’s text.
We are told that the patriarch, Abraham, staggered not at the promise of God.
The dictionary meaning for “stagger”‘ means ‘to begin to doubt and waver, to become unstable and to cease to stand firm” – very apt for a good understanding of the text.
In other words, Abraham was a deliberate Man who “‘ stood firm” on God’s promises irrespective of the conditions and unfavorable circumstances because he was not just an old man but also had an old wife who had passed the age and phase of childbirth, yet he did not consider these limitations because he knew that the God he served is the Unlimited God who is able to go beyond every limitation.
Abraham made a choice to keep on believing God even when everything was hopeless, and keep trusting instead of living on the basis of what his eyes could see.
Have you become so overwhelmed about the limiting factors and circumstances around you that you have shifted your gaze away from your Father who is able to do all things and you now consider the problems or challenges?
Do you remember that there is no impossibility with God?
He alone created the world through the words of power that came from His mouth, and all was seen as good.
I challenge you today to look unto the Lord.
If Abraham our father staggered not, then you who are his offspring should remain firm and unshaken because in all these things you are more than
Conqueror.
PRAYER: Father, I receive grace to believe, trust, and hold on to your Word and promises for my life in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.
SHALOM.
